I have an app hoarding problem, there I said it. I download a lot of apps, I mean a lot. I have slowed down recently after a self intervention, but as you can see in the image, I currently have 447 apps on my phone. We will ignore my 2,420 photos at this point (I did slim it down to 2187 before writing this post).
How many apps do you have on your phone? You can take a look by going to settings-general-about.
So why do I have so many apps? Well I like my iPhone and like to see what can be done with it. I often peruse the free apps section in the App Store, and download a lot of stuff from AppsGoneFree. I will admit, I probably haven’t opened all of them either.
What kind of apps do I have? Well, my rough guess that would be that about half are games, which I couldn’t tell you how many
hours days months I have spent playing. I have probably 60 photo apps, even though 99% of the time I just use the built in app. I also have video apps, productivity apps, Taylor Swift apps, moustache apps, you name it, it’s probably there.
How do I keep track of all of these? Well, having my phone jailbroken allows me to have folders with as many apps as I want so I keep it pretty organized. I have folders for all major functions and throw everything in there that is related. In iOS you can only have 11 pages of apps, but with folders you can fit a lot in, but I think 11 pages is pretty tough to navigate through.
But with a new iPhone coming on Friday, I am tempted to just start fresh and only install apps that I actually use. According to iTunes, I have had 773 apps over the last 5 years so it is not like I don’t delete anything off my phone and I could probably do a little cleaning in iTunes too.
One reason I want to trim down is the fact that when I get my iPhone on Friday I want to use it as soon as possible, not waiting for 447 apps to install.
I will keep you updated on my progress, but for now I am going to at least start cleaning up my iPhone and getting rid of apps I don’t even remember downloading.
